Buying a Macbook Pro for college?

I am going to a private university next year (that pretty much only uses mac) and I really like them. I just graduated in the top 1% of my class and decided that it would be a graduation gift for myself. (My family cannot afford to help out.) I've taken out an additional $1500 in Stafford loans (only $4000 altogether, praise God!) ,but I will not be able to get the money until October. I have considered taking out a visa card through Apple that's no interest for 12 months, and I would get the education discount. I have $300 saved now and would probably have more by the time I bought it in mid-July or so. I have a job and could make the monthly payments. Would it be wise to go ahead and purchase the computer through the visa card and then pay it down completely in October when I receive the remainder of my Stafford loan?
