How is it evolutionarily advantageous to help the religious?

Evolution takes a lot of time. Your religion will die out eventually, as have all human religions, sooner or later. But that's mostly because there's no reality behind it, and people are always trying out new superstitious ideas. It's a "meme" rather than a "gene".
